They were a witness of the Calamari Inkantation, but were unable to find their own place to reside until finding a ticket to a train heading to Splatsville. According to our records, Quinn, and their friendly Smallfry, Nugget, can usually either be seen by the general store or hanging with the rest of the New Squidbeak Splatoon.
Born in Octo Valley 18 years ago, ()@%@?, soon to be known during their time in the Octarian Army as Ruby, wasn't exactly the strongest warrior from the get-go. He often struggled in training sessions, where, in one of which, he received the scar on his neck, so he wasn't sent out into missions very often. The other members on their level were kind to them, at least, so according to our calculations, it wasn't all horrible.
One mission Ruby was sent out for was the one where Calamari Inkantation was released upon the Octarian population. He definitely wanted to leave, like many others, but the current outside world felt unsafe and unstable compared to his current living situation. Therefore, when the remaining army migrated to Octo Canyon, located nearby Inkopolis Square, he followed.
Eventually, Ruby ventured into Inkopolis Square on their own, hoping that something had changed in the last few years. The various octolings wandering around and the one on the big screen confirmed that something had indeed happened, he just had no clue what. Our databases aren't 100% sure, either, since the files describing whatever event caused this seem to be corrupted. Nevertheless, despite having nowhere to stay for the time being, an attempt to integrate into society as Quinn had begun.
This wasn't all fun and games. They still didn't feel entirely in the clear, despite everything. This is when Quinn ventured out into the unknown and eventually found Nugget. The two of them were still very alone for a while, but it was better than a constant fear of rejection, probably. Finding the ticket to Splatsville renewed a sense of bravery.
Thus taking us to their current place of residence. They're still not the most well off, though the situation is much better than before. He got some help from Harmony after being seen constantly lurking by the general store, and has been able to make a handful of friends since then.
Of course, the pair eventually wandered into Alterna. The story from here on out is for you to find out.

It's usually the Heavy Splatling or the Hydra Splatling, but they branch out sometimes. Never the Mini Splatling, though.> Despite the way they look, they swear like a sailor.
